Rose Lake Excursion

Senegal is home to Retba Lake, aka Rose Lake, which is naturally pink, because of its high salt content. The water has perfect living conditions for a certain type of microalgae called dunaliella salina. The presence of these organisms is what gives the lake its pink hue. The salt content of Lake Retba or Lake Rose, as it is locally known, rivals that of the Dead Sea - exceeding 40% of salinity in some parts - and it is a combination of sun and micro salted seaweed, dunaliella Salina, which turned the water into a brilliant shade of pink strawberry.
The longer you stay inside the lake, the more salt water you have, the higher is the possibilty to get hurt.
